Dont post first class this Christmas

Well might do...

Alex (Ghost) sent me a speedo cable the other week first class..Posted on Wednesday 19th, I recieved it on Thursday 26th!...

First class (next day) my arse!!! I can understand maybe 2-3 days at a busy time of year....but not the middle of feckin' october, I should be going through a mail deluge period then...;)

I heard RM arguing against this on the radio (5live) and basically it was "it will be slow whatever, 1st class will be less slow than 2nd"

80 million! Blimey!!

I posted a letter to card to Kent the other day, friend text me to say she'd rec'd it next day (1st class)

Same day posted a birthday card to my cousin in the Midlands, turned up 3 days later! - 1st class again!

How weird!?

I have never ever lost an item of mail in the post. While I don't doubt that the system is not perfect, I suggest that many of the letters supposedly missing were in fact never posted.

Our post service is the best in the world. I have a penfriend in Greece, I'd say about 1 in 3 of our letters don't get through.

Re: Don't post first class this Christmas

(n) The mail here in pikeyville notts, is pretty bad as well.It seems to have gone off since they did that reshuffle thing,a while ago. There is no regularity to deliveries at all now. :( The postie used to arrive at 7,to 7.30am each morning. Now they turn up when they feel like it! We have had several things go missing too, plus them leaving things like bank statements. At the wrong addresses, the neighbors bring them round opened up! Still they have to put shareholders first eh!

Re: Don't post first class this Christmas

Steve, same problem for me in Nottm, went from 7-7:30 to 2pm overnight. The postperson also started lying about when they delivered parcels/registered post and posting the card backdated, I wrote to RM who apologised and offered me the oppotunity to speak to the Postperson, what?! Why/! Just don't do it again!

Dr.Pepper, the mail service seems to vary greatly due to the staff in different areas, so don't just assume that because your mail doesn't go missing other people's doesn't. I am well aware of what I have and haven't posted and I no for a fact that some of the personal stuff doesn't arrive. It is hard for me to disbelieve the official stuff, because of the poor record with the personal stuff.

Re: Don't post first class this Christmas

I have had a few problems this year with mail. Thing is I know I have sent it, so why does it take 7-10 days to reach the other end of the country? I'd be quicker walking with it! Apparently there is a big hold up at the Carlisle sorting office from time to time and things sit on a big pile for a week at a time until they can be arsed sorting through it.

Re: Don't post first class this Christmas

i got a post card thing off my postie saying 2 parcels under the merc lazy git couldnt be bothered to take them back to the sorting office where i usaly get them from. ah that reminds me i gotta ring them up an ask what parcels i found no parcels ;)

I never said letters don't go missing - I appreciate people have problems with it but it's still the best system in the world.

Thing is Royal Mail was losing 1m a day at one point, now they have made changes including later/less deliveries in order to return to profit. Sorry but they can't just go on making a loss else they fold and nobody gets any letters. I'm not saying the post is good just that there is a reason for it.
