Well I'm definitely coming. Have booked whole weekend off as missed Monmouth as I got stumped and had to spend weekend away .
Not this time.

You've seen the adverts, "work the hours to suit you". Well it's nonsense. As a driving instructor, you work the hours to suit the customer.

Yes I can sympathise with that! No holidays, no Bank Holidays, no sick pay, etc.... Still at least I can work over a grotty weekend & take a sunny (I think I remember those! ) day off in the week - if there's not too much to do....

I know from experience that driving instructor's don't earn the figures in the adverts (well they can EARN that figure, but it's very different to profit!). I always quite fancied being a driving instructor, but I've done enough instructors' accounts to know it wouldn't pay the bills easily.

Anyway, can't you offer an extended lesson & get them to drive to Donington while they pay you - you only have to avoid motorways. :idea:

Don't rush into it. Lots of research first. I do it because I love driving, mortgage is paid, so I can earn little and still exist. You can do lots of hours, and earn a decent amount, but the hours and the learners will send most insane.
Be wary of training companies' finance schemes. Many can work out very expensive, with no guarantee of success. Only about 20% who start the training qualify. So if I said, invest £3500, on finance that could rise to £8000, and after a year you have a 20% chance of being able to earn money. You'd have to be sure and the training companies will take you on, even if they think you have no chance of success. Very rewarding when it works though.

I've paid hardly any tax for three years now. Thank you all for subsidising me.

Lovely idea, but I'd need to get three of them to all agree, all come along, and be prepared to stand around with a lot of people talking Fiats, in possibly a cold car park. May struggle to sell that one.

It's nice being retired , but I won't be attending this event as:

1) Donnington's a bit too far from home, and
2) It clashes with two other events on my calendar

I don't know the Donington layout - it may be ok anyway? Sorry to throw a (13mm) spanner into the works, but I guess it's better than finding out on the day!!

as the Circuit is on the side of a Dual Carriageway - @ 10 mins from M1,
I suspect a relatively small event will be fine,

not like it's castle combe..!!

Yes you're probably right, but are the bits we were going to (food & museum) within the entry perimeter? We're not going to pay £15 to get in (well I would, but would then want to sit watching the racing all day! ).

It's at the main entrance, All in one place, been there today for the btcc media day
