Technical Does this work?

Hi all,
Was just surfing eBay for cinq bits and bobs, and came across this:

Was just wondering if this actually worked, or is it ust a waste of money like the chips of eBay?

I have never seen one of these but it appears to be a flow conditioner. From the edges and other features it appears to try to promote a controlled turbulent flow.

One of the guys at uni was doing his major project on twisted rifling of the intake to induce some vortices but it was questionable if it would produce a positive effect in a car

Tbh its a shame we dont have an engine on the dyno at uni that i could try it on as for a fiver it looks an interesting prospect and you never know the guy might stump his delivery charge for dyno data but i dont think it would be possible ill have a look though.
