does anyone have a DAB radio in their car????

Hi, Ive got a blaupunkt woodstock dab in my marea, works great, plays cd's,mp3's,dab reception is ok'ish in my area but is getting better. Unfortunately i did get it from a shop on ebay, paid £140 + 30 for aerial
seems a good basic player which is all i need

whats the gernal benfit over a nromal radio for this?

apart from a clearer reception???

say radio 1 is distorted in many areas wil a dab significantly improve in everywhere i go??

also am i right that stations such as pirate ones cannnot be picked up on DAB's???

Depending where you are DAB reception is worse. But when its good its very good. Its about MP3 quality and there are some good extra stations.

A DAB head unit still has FM/AM. As far as I know there are no pirate DAB stations, the hardware is too complex and expensive.

i have a blaupunkt DAB 54 in my pickup, can't remember what i paid for it, I have an amplified window aerial. It sounds good when your in a good reception area but the M18 and M1 are terrible for reception, it keeps cutting out. I find the BBC ensamble is the worst for this too!

If mine cuts out on DAB and it can find the station on FM it will switch to FM, but that is even more annoying as it keeps flicking from one to the other and they seem to have different volume levels so your always adjusting the volume.

Having extra stations sounds good, but its a bit like sky, you spend all your time flicking and never actually listen to something.

If your buying a new head unit anyway then get a DAB, but don't buy one for the sake of DAB.

Save urself a load of money ok.. it will be a day old radio.. but hey.. its cheaper

the DAB 54 allows you to play from and record to a memory card, never used the feature but its got to be useful for something!
