A few months ago when driving in wet weather my punto started to misfire, then the problem went away. The other day when i was driving home from work the car ran fine i arrived home and went into the house, later on i went out to the car to go to the shop and when i started it up it was only running on two cylinders!! I have replaced the plugs and h t leads but its no different. I then took the car round to my local garage who had a look and said it was sparking on all four cylinders so it was not the coils at fault. However my father put a strobe light on it and two cylinders lit up and two didn't and it is one cylinder from each coil that is not sparking.....do i need new coils?????????

they don't cost a lot to change, if you buy from motor factors of breakers yard, it could be the strobe don't need as much power as a plug does,
have you tried seeing if the plug is sparking by taking it out and turning engine over?

I can tell you exactly whats wrong as it has just cost me £380!!!! It is a relay module connected to the ignition. It send a serge and blows out the coil. If you leave it long enough it will heat up and melt!

Fiat have had my car for 2 and a half weeks to find that out! Relay £30... Coil £130!! Car towed to garage... loads!

Try swapping the coils over (if you haven't already). This will eliminate the coil as the problem if the problem stays with the same cylinders.
