Just watched the start of this and wondered if anybody is watching (channel 4).
So far I have heard the following from the leaders of the anti-asylum centre in their area:
They could easily attack the oil refinery...erm, yeah.....![
)]
"It doesn't take a genius to knock out the power supply to Swanick (the airtraffic control system)"....hmmm, those silly electrical engineers didn't think about backups and backup backups....?!
[Looking at an asylum seeker in the window of a hotel] "Who would want them in their neighbourhood??"
A 50 year old lady: "I am scared of rape, STIs/STDs and aids"
One lady (the only one so far to understand the needs of asylum seekers who was complaining at a man for sticking a anti-asylum seeker outside her house) spoke out to a man who said "shoot em, i don't care, kill 'em, born in that situation, leave 'em in it"
They then went ahead to say that they are a risk to everyone. Come on, why are asylum seekers any different to others? A couple of guys on that road had been attacked for having pro-asylum seeker feelings.
"We will be raped and mugged"
The woman basically said something I completely agree with:
"If we were to have a civil war tomorrow, i would beg for a country to take me to help me and give me refuge"
I don't want to start an argument, just want your comments on the above. I want to know why people can lack so much compassion towards fellow human beings? I can understand more mild feelings towards it, but i believe the above (directly quoted) is far too harsh?
Paul
P.s. I ask this because this is one of the most important questions within our country right now.
