Technical difficulty getting gears

Over the last few months I've noticed that selecting gears is getting difficult, I'm not sure if it's the clutch pedal that needs adjustment or the linkage to the gearbox that's not right.

Is it possible to alter the clutch pedal - it looks less straight forward than my previous cars.

Try bleeding the clutch,see if that helps.When the clutch pedal is pressed down,there is no noise from the release bearing is there.
Bleeding the clutch helped when i had trouble getting gears,but my release bearing was making a slight noise and in the end broke up.
Put a new clutch in mine but still problems,just put it back together for the second time.I am going to change the clutch slave,see if that helps if not then the clutch mastercylinder.I know they are weak items on this car,good luck.

I don't think the clutch pedal pick-up point is adjustable (at least that's what my local Fiat dealer told me). It's hydraulic so there's no cable adjuster to play with, nor is there any threaded link rod like I've seen on some other cars. About the only recourse if you're having trouble getting into gear is to try bleeding the master and slave. If that doesn't work, you're into spending some money....

Can you get it into gear ok without the engine running and with your foot off the clutch? If that gives problems, it could be the gear linkage cables.

Sounds like the problem I had.
Is the "biting point" of the clutch way down on the floor almost?
Does the clutch pedal feel nice and even pressure all the way down with no "flat" spot early on the travel?
If so, then it is more than likely the clutch needs replacing.
I've just had mine done and it's like a new car to drive as I always felt I was struggling to compensate for the crappy gear change.
Well worth the rather big pay out in the end

What am I looking at to replace the clutch?

I've just had mine replaced by a non-franchised specialist. I'm in Wiltshire, so I do'nt think you'll be using the same place, but I bought the clutch from CG Motorsports. It is their 'fast road' item. Don't be put off by the name - you won't need a leg like Chris Hoy to press the pedal down. The friction plate and springs are stock Valeo items, but the fingers of the pressure plate are beefed up so that more of the spring pressure makes it to the friction surfaces. The clutch from CG was just over £160 delivered. They do the standard item for just short of £100+delivery (which is about £12 I think). You can order from them over the phone (Google their website).

For fitting, my local specialist charged £180+VAT+gearbox oil. That compares to the £588 I was quoted by my local franchised Fiat dealer to supply and fit the boggo clutch. Gulp.
