What killed most Tipo 16v cars, was the dreaded block problem. Around number 2 Conrod/ crank, a tiny piece of the block corner would breakaway, and be sucked up towards the camshaft, blocking the oilway. This lead to the bearing seizing on the crank, and one knackered engine. Many a 16v, and Lancia models, were scrapped, because of this. I have two 16 V's do this on me, even though I religiously maintained them. Only affected 16 V blocks. 8 valve blocks are bomb proof.
Each engine was stripped, and both had the same blockage. Guy Croft, and other Italian engine builders, have noted this. Guy sorts the problem out on his builds. A quick grind around the areas. Stop the blockages.
