I dont believe this,my car is one month old today and to celebrate, some t****r thought they would fling their car door open onto mine leaving a nice dent! Great! The dent isnt big but it the fact that its there at all is bugging me,it may aswell be the size if a football! In fact it is barely noticible unless you stand at a certain angle but then it sticks out like a sore thumb.:bang:

I hate the way people just fling their doors open without a care in the world for whats parked next to them!

Halfords do a dent removal thing,i may ask them how much and if they can do it,its only the size of a 5p,think it just needs sucking out.

I had a similar thing happen to my 500 yesterday.

Parked well away from anybody, got back to the car & found a Purple Bora parked very close to my passenger side, plenty of enpty sp[aces but the owner felt the need to park very close to my car.

Found a nice 'car door ding' in the passenger door, so I left a note saying "Thank you very much for denting the door of my car, if you would be good enough to call me on 01454 XXXXXX to discuss how you would like to pay for the repair I'd be gratefull'.

Anyway, about an hour later the phone rand & the lady owner asked if she could come round to look at the alleged damage as she said she did touch the side of my car with her door but couldn't find any damage.

She popped round, saw the damage & has given me her address, phone number & e-mail to send the bill to her for her to reimburse me once I've had the repair carried out.

It's nice that she called you back at least! Bummer that people just don't give a **** about others property though.

Ouch:eek: - happened to me first day i had the car, twas the next door neighbour that did for mine - all i got was "its only a bloody car"

Luckily it was right on the crease in the door - the application of side rubbing strips have covered it up.

they dont give a toss about their cars either if they are happy to use theirs to dent yours

I think i nhave slight(well, major)OCD about my car! I try to not look at the dent but my eyes get automatically drawn to it and for some reason i start rubbing it as if its suddenly gonna disappear!

Most 'door dent' can be removed using a PRD (Paintless Dent Removal) specialist.

Do a quick google search and I'm sure there will be someone in your area.

Out of interest do you have the side rubbing strips ? I was sold these on the basisi that they would prevent dents from doors but I guess its not necessarily so

No. Because the strips are lower than the point where the doors are widest, so they offer no protection. you could mount them higher but they aren't aesthically pleasing.

It depends on how you get hit - they offer no protection from rear doors as they hit you above the strip - When mine was dinked it was smack on the crease in the door where the side strips would have been - made me wish i'd specced them - but luckily the addition of the rubbing strip covered up the dink.
So if you have to park next to another car make sure its a 2 door preferably with no child seats in the back (another horror story from a previous life).

The PDR guys are fantastic. I have used a few over the years, my latest guy got a large shopping trolley dent out of my wife's golf that was in the leading edge of the wheelarch, double curvature and totally invisible now.

My local guy, Dave the Dent is based in Tamworth, does all the local dealerships, inc. Fiat. Without wishing to break any forum rules, anybody local can get him on 07989 131170
