Hi all, might be my last post for a while, trashed my Cinq last night... In an unfamiliar town, misread a one-way system and went into another car ;) Totally wrecked the drivers side, door took an almighty thwack, crushed into my seat, only an inch or so up to my leg. The old adage of 'you can replace cars but you can never replace people' never rung more true.

Anyway, in the cold light of day, went to a body repair place, guy took one look at it and said 'write off'. Only insured for TPF&T (learnt my lesson now) so I'm looking to salvage as much as I can out of the situation, literally.

The car still drives perfectly, so it seems a waste of a good car, so does anyone have any idea what I could do with the car? Thinking along the lines of eBay or 'spares or repair' small ad, but has anyone got any other ideas that I could do to lessen the financial blow?

I can see the top of my car in the car park...

Sorry Pete, not clear on what you mean... surely the car is still mine under TPF&T insurance? Thought it only became the property of the insurance company under fully comp?

Not thought of going to other bodyshop, one pulling his face at the damage was enough .. Apparently there's damage to the pillars which is costly to fix.

It all depends on how much you want to keep the Cinq alive. Even pillar damage can be repaired and it needn't cost a fortune. These characters that work in bodyshops and garages don't understand. They see a small Fiat and think that because it's not worth any more than a few hundred quid that they can dismiss it and assign it to the scrapyard. They wouldn't even consider owning one and generally I think their opinion is worthless.

Find a good Fiat specialist and get a second opinion.
