Took car to dealer today. Usual standards of customer service when I asked if they could have a quick look he looked at his watch & said suppose so!

Noise at MAR position behind steering wheel, that didn't happen for first 3k of miles :- Technician!!! said they all have different noises from the power steering motor some loud & some are quite as long as it works & warning light doesn't come on it is OK and they wouldn't take any further action.

Clutch pedal creak :- said its not the pedal, which it clearly is. Said it is likely to need a new thrust bearing as I have a noisey one, if they replace it though whole box has to come out and the result could be worse or better! Deceided to leave as it is as he said he would!!

So thats it whirring noise normal & clutch not the pedal...noisey thrust bearing.

As neither of these things bother me, I only worry that they will go after warranty and cost me £££'s, I will now leave them both and see if they get any worse they 2 year warranty covers both I presume & that runs to March 2006.

Any thoughts anyone? Cheers.

take it to another dealer, for a second opinion. You are free and fully in yr rights to take it any fiat dealer if its under fiat warranty not dealer warranty.

I've noticed the same noise when the ignition is on MAR and also when I unlock the door and open it, before placing the key into the ignition barrel sometimes the humming noise can be heard. It only lasts about 10 seconds.

Its booked in next week. will let you know if they find anything

'I've noticed the same noise when the ignition is on MAR '

Is the noise constant when the key is left at MAR? Or does it go off after 10 seconds? It is a very quite noise that once the engine is on can only be heard if you put your ear to the steering wheel in my case.

Let me know what they say...is it only booked in for that noise?

Cheers

Noise from dash is likely to be due to the LCD screen, with its backlighting. Anyone tried pressing the light button on an indiglo watch and hold it to your ear, you get a faint hissing noise too!

Its not a fault, and i garuantee its done it since the day you bought it, its just as the days/weeks go by you get more in tune with the little noises your car makes and to suddenly think there is a fault! ;)

No its definatley from the steering wheel. It is a low whirring noise. But it can't be heard once the engine is on unless you stick your ear to the wheel which I don't usually do whilst driving!!

So like the other small niggles to date I shall not be pushing the dealer to take anything apart / replace items yet!
