Technical Damn factory head unit won't go back in

Puzzled.
I pulled out my factory CD player to have a preliminary look at the back and see how to interface an FM modulator with it and now I can't seem to get it back in.
It feels and looks like it's all the way back in place but remains wobbly and obviously hasn't quite engaged.

I've tried all sorts of angles and ridiculous amounts of force but I obviously don't have 'the technique'....

Does anyone?

Last time I had the factory one in and out it needed a good shove

brute force is all i can say worked for me

There are 2 flat prongs at the top of the steelsurround that need bending down a bit then a good push should do it.
