My Fiat Brava 1.6 cuts out regularly when hot or cold. Also at high speeds the fuel injection light comes on and when you take your foot off the accelerator the engine cuts out but comes back in again when the foot is reapplied to the accelerator (with a bit of a jump). The car starts OK after the cutting out. You can get around the cutting out by keeping the revs up - not easy in trafic. Some days it goes like a dream - no problems whatsoever then the next day it cuts out at every junction.
Been to many Fiat garages and paid many hundreds of pounds to no avail. Nothing ever shows on their diagnostics so they claim it is probably some part or other.
Any suggestions either of the part required or a garage who could fix it.

the only blatently obviouse thing that comes to mind is the fuel injection pump or maybes the spark plugs?but i should think that the various garages you went to would have thought of this.

Much respect to the dude that invented the wheel!!

I know this is going to sound blatenly obvious, but have you tried injector cleaning fluid, maybe it will work or maybe it won't.

Also you could try cleaning the pipes that supply the fuel from you petrol tank.

Who knows, hope I've been of some help.

did you ever sort this problem out? i'm also going through this now and need help.

change the ect sensor (engine coolant temp sensor). i had this problem, not exactly the same i had random revs, crap idle and injector light coming on for no reason and hesitant jumpy accelerating. it cost £20 quid to replace and is sat on top of the thermostat. easy job and cheap if its not the prob

intermittent faults are the worst ones, if the car has the same problem every time finding it is a lot easier, but if it comes and goes then you can be fairly sure that its electrical. corroded connections, a loose wire, intermittent ecu fault, a sensor that only works when it wants to. diagnostic checks are usually the best way to solve electrical problems, but intermittent faults rarely show up. i've seen a dead lambda sensor get through a diagnostics even when the engine management light was on, that surprised me and kind of damaged my faith in diagnostics checks.

with a fault like this on a 1.6 you must double check the coil and injectors are perfect, especially the circuits they operate on. an injector can cause intermittent faults during early stages of failure, as can a coil pack.

pretty much the same problem with my 80 1.3. highly embarrasing and dangerous at junctions etc.have been to various garages including fiat but still no nearer a solution.the car can be fine for up to a month then slow idling and stalling kick in without warning!

I have the same problem, Could guy42 solve this problem?

I replaced water temp sensor, air temp sensor, TPS, Fuel pump, spark plug, leads, fuel filter, air filter.

Coil pack is in range, I not cleaned injector but I tested and is in range.

If I turn on air conditioning loss a lot of power and is "impossible" to drive in traffic (jump accelerating and stoping)

I connected my vacuum gauge in manifold and show only 15inHg, Is this normal?

Please help me with this!

I had similar problems, i plonked some injector cleaner in my tank and the problem seems to have lessened, the revs used to try to drop away completely when putting the clutch in coming to junctions/roundabouts etc.

Since putting the stuff in the tank its noticeably better and thus i have more confidence when coming to a stop and i dont have to keep one eye on the rev counter and one on the road, which can be quite tricky ;)

I build a lambda tester but I don't know what is correct o incorrect function. The tester must turn on permanently led's always in a point? or is a sequential blinking?.

My lambda tester show secuential blinking of 0 to 500-600mv in idle, this is normal?

my fiat brava injection light is on all the time and the car wont run proper or iddle can anyone help i have changed some sensors do they have to be reset by a computer:bang:
