yeah i think it is come to think about it, but not all the time, come on for a while goes out, then other times comes on the goes out as normal?

Is it accompanied by a loss in power and a shuddering...

If it is, it may be the MAP Sensor, there's a black line about 2mm in diameter that runs from the front of the engine block (below the black dome) to the blue thing at the back right of the engine bay.

Pull that line off carefully, blow through it and check no petrol comes out..If it does, that can be sorted easily, A non return valve can be gotten for about £4 I think, can find info if necessary.

Make sure the line is connected to the car when trying to start it!

It's not the timing belt, you don't have one on an 899.

Put a spare spark plug in the door pocket. Next time it stops, dive under the bonnet, remove a lead, attach to your spare plug, earth the plug against the block and turn the engine over. If there is a spark, its a fuel problem. If there is no spark, then its ignition.

Take it from there.

Cheers
