To be honest, I feel like my dealer treats me like a total leper just because I'm only buying two pandas for just under 11 grand and not an entire fleet...fair enough I am getting a MASSIVE discount but he doesn't need to make it quite so obvious that he'd rather not be selling me a car at all. (n)
2 cars for 11k. Who cares if he treats you like a leper :D You've just got 2 cars for 11k!!!!!! :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

Well yes there is that, and...ok I'm not THAT bothered! :)

BUT nearly 11k is quite a lot of money, even for someone as independently wealthy as myself...it isn't even on finance!...ahhh, hang on...I get it now, he makes more money out of the finance doesn't he? Hmmmmm :)

I do like the utilitarian charm of the little Panda, and the economy, I'm almost looking forward to my next traffic jam... I suppose the dealer doesn't have to try that hard when it is such a winning product...ahh well.

...just the attitude I am talking about.

Thank you for all for your comments anyway.

My new tailgate is fine.
You're the one with the attitude. Saying that someone should lose thier JOB for what really is a minor problem. So someone should have their mortgage, marriage and other things put in jeopardy because they drilled your tailgate? I understand why you're unhappy but wanting someone to be sacked is just a complete overreaction.

Errmm.. maybe you should get off your high Horse?

anyone else from the FIAT police want to chime in ?

I guess there are plenty of you that has never been so angry that you may have let off a bit of steam.

... I wont call you a hypocrite, honest. :)

Not sure if these quotes were aimed at myself, however.........

It kind of worries me because this guy fits brake pads, I hope he doesnt cut corners on any of your cars; other wise your attitude would change I should imagine.

No it wouldn't because its not the techs that fit the number plates in all the garages (bar one which is not Fiat) that I frequent, which as my job entails is alot.

If you dont like my post, dont read it.

Unfortunally as a moderator I have to, I also should keep a 'neutral' view however wanting someone sacked over a number plate is just selfish & vindictive.

Actually I would call the person "selfish" for fitting plates poorly on customers new cars. Im sure he knows its not good practice so Djbonnett has every right to be frustrated. Okay maybe the guy shouldnt be sacked but he should have a better attitude to his work...

And as a result from this complaint, Arnold Clark Stourbridge is now fitting plates correctly. So I think its great Djbonnett took the issue further as its clearly made a difference. Just a shame it takes a complaint like this to sort the issue. As I mentioned before, I blame Fiat UK more than the Dealer Manager. Fiat UK should be ensuring their dealers follow good practices through random checks and dealer communications (y)

I would use the term inexperienced or not qualified. My point is directly related to the sacking & not the fact holes are being drilled in tailgates.

During the owners time with the car (typically 2-4 years) the tailgate wont rust that much (shouldn't be rusting at all I know that before anyone says) so it is exposed from behind the number plate however if the number plate is changed then getting the rusted screw out of the rusted tailgate could well cause problems.

You don't need a qualification or experience to fit a numberplate in pre-drilled holes. It's called being lazy.

Djbonnett probably said that in anger. And maybe the guy should be sacked if he's not doing his job properly. If he's fitting plates poorly, there is doubt he's doing a tidy job elsewhere.

4 holes have been created for a reason and there is no excuse for not using them....how long you keep the car, amount of rust etc. what about doing a tidy job so the customer is happy? What customer would choose to have their plate drilled that way?

No one's suggesting that this is the right thing to do, all people are suggesting is reaction to be proportionate to the offence.

Do you not think he was just angry? We all say things we don't mean in the heat of the moment. I would also been a bit pi***d if they did that to my car. After my recent experiences with dealers I really feel for him, and he is entitled to be annoyed so maybe we should give him a break?

I think the reaction was appropriate.

Complaint to Fiat Customer Care.
Letter to Arnold Clark director.

Result: New tailgate with correct fitting. AC Stourbridge now fitting plates properly (y)

As mentioned before, the sacking comment was probably made in anger. I don't think its fair to attack a frustrated customer for making such comment. I totally sympathise with them and not the offender.
