Anyone ever seen brake pads crumble away when becoming thin? I had them off in prep for changing suspension parts on the Marea to find that I suddenly had to buy brake parts as my pads were falling apart
I'd like to point out there was still some friction material and wasn't worn down to the sensor for the warning light. To add to that the car's been on pads too small for the discs since I bought it (about 8mm from disc centre to pad and 3mm from disc edge to pad) so now on new discs and new full size pads. Worrying thing is I used to think the brakes were pretty damn good! How late can I brake now?!
So with much hard driving out the way and wet roads going to be more common - it's a good time to check your discs and pads are in good condition both inboard and outboard on both sides.
