So after a year of problem free running I've snapped 2 rings on cylinder 1. Are the rod and main bolts stretch or are they good to just reuse? Need to drop piston out the bottom to cha he oil ring, it's an 899 engine :)

Thanks!

Will be fine to re-use imo.

Will probably be just as easy to drop the whole engine out. Not sure if the piston and rod will clear without dropping the crank right out

Rod wouldn't fit up the bore and piston won't clear the crank. Got sent the wrong damn rings anyway so I'm just getting another engine. There is some bore damage so a chance of it having poor compression. Was hopeful of getting it at least running.

Rod should go up the bore ok???

Sounds like you are better off getting a replacement engine though.

Picked up a new one today, swapped over the modified bits (it's in a reliant) and after getting the plug leads the right way round it started first turn. Really bad leak and low compression but seems the lifters may be a bit sticky. Sounded ok when running but will end up putting the old head on it as it had new stem seals a year ago, new head gasket can't be a bad thing either.
