I have looked at other TwinAirs and they do not have this issue. If it isn't crank case pressure, what is it?You do not have a problem with crank case pressure .

I had to add some oil (not when the engine was running). i opened the oil cap out of curiosity. I have worked on many engines, none have had excess pressure when you open the oil filler cap. its definitely blowing not sucking. I'm also getting a small puff of smoke from the exhaust, another indicator of excess pressure. i presume there is a blockage in the air / oil separator (PCV)?That is extra info not on your first post . I have amended my post accordingly..
Were the other twin air engines you looked at identical spec to yours?
Strangely your question has cropped up recently and it appears not uncommon behaviour for twin air.
What made you undo the oil filler while engine running in first instance? Is there any more info too add?
Panda Nut, checking oil level with the cap resting on the threads increases the amount of oil in the sump? Increasing the chance to overfill ?Do a search on here. Smoke more likely turbo related. Crankcase apparently high pressure is normal. Don't over fill the oil read the level with dip done NOT screwed down, just resting on top of the caps threads. It doesnt have a pcv.
No, it reduces it as the dip stick is higher than if screwed down. Have a search on Twin air dip stick on here. I made my own steel one for oil checking as the original is USELESS. Lots of suggestions on reading the oil to assist you. Its very easy to get the level very wrong, both low and high.Panda Nut, checking oil level with the cap resting on the threads increases the amount of oil in the sump? I have to agree here; I also have asked whether the level check is with the cap screwed in or not, previous answers suggest screw the cap in and check level.Panda Nut, checking oil level with the cap resting on the threads increases the amount of oil in the sump? Increasing the chance to overfill ?
It's definitely blowing not sucking.I downloaded and watched video.
I do not think you have a problem with excess crank case pressure .
Engines I have seen with excess pressure blow the oil cap off if loosened with engine running.
Cap on your engine appears to be slightly sucked down.
TTR, you are right, there isn't a PCV valve but there is a cylinder head breather. There is a gauze inside which is clear.Eh up,
I’m no expert on this but I’m not sure the TA has a PCV
If I’m right it’s the uniair system that dictates not a PCV
Stand to be corrected
Hope this helps though![]()
