Hi

ive been looking around the net trying to find out the difference between the engine in the 16vt coupe and the integrale with no luck...
on one forum it seemed like everyone were getting nervous for piston meltdown when they reaced 260-280 hp...
as im aware of the only thing different on the coupe is that there is a different intake a much smaller turbo and downpipe and a slightly smaller i/c..
so my guess is that theese engines gets knackered because of the stock turbo is working near to its max capcity plus the pressure due to the restrictive downpipe all mixed together with a cheep read poor chip conversion with boostpeaks and lack of fuelling
a sweedish tuner tunes the intergrale by replacing the turbo "cant remember type" downpipe, exhaust, filter, head gasket, headbolts "grp a non streach items"fuelpump and injectors together with a rolling road produced chip this engine delivered 370bhp "crank" and enormous torque and has been as reliable as anything else ever since. The bloke drives the car to greace every summer by the way...
if anyone knows the exact different between coupe and grale.. please let me know
any feedback will be much apreciated...

I'm not too "up" on these things, but It's the same engine, alright. It makes 15bhp less than the standard Integrale. As you say, a different turbo is used and smaller downpipe, I know it's not easy to fit an enlarged downpipe and 3" exhaust to the coupe due to some restriction or other.
If you haven't done so already, visit

and post your question in the "Tuning section" (not teaching you to suck eggs but you'll be surprised how many first-timers post in the completely wrong section eg. Parts for sale  )

There are quite a few 16vt's running well into the 300-350bhp mark.
