Bought new spark plugs online for my 2006 1.2 Fiat Panda but the thread was too big. Same thing happened at Eurocarparts even when they put in my car reg RE56 NNH. Any idea what the correct thread size and part number might be? I phoned a Fiat dealership (who were not very helpful) and they just gave me a part number 55188857 but they didn't have any specs/thread size for the plugs. Would massively appreciate any help with this. Thanks

NGK DCPR7E-N-10 or ZKR7A-10. They are 12mm thread plugs. Photo of NGK catalogue entry.

To be fair euro car parts under the REG lists both 12mm and 14mm and warn several times that more than one size was fitted and to check the fitment. Sadly they don't mention whats different

I find the best place to check what spark plugs should be fitted is at the back of the owners book. Assuming one was in the car

If the oil filler cap is round, it uses the smaller diameter plugs. Changes on engine number. Anything from 2533529 onwards is the smaller plug, no timing marks for the cambelt, round oil filler.

Correct

post 2533539 engines were still square filler until the introduction of the evo2 engine round filler. Around 2006
There's three engines fitted

Pre 2533539 square oil filler
Timed by marks at TDC on cyl 1

Post 2533539 still square oil filler
Crank timed by marks cam locked by tool 2.000.004.000 still timed TDC on cyl 1

Evo2 engines round oil filler
Cam and crank locked with all piston halfway down
2.000.004.500
2.000.004.400

I have no info on time lines. As to when each change took place. My 05 had a square filler 1.2 but had smaller 12mm plugs as did my 06 1.1 round filler.

It's likely only pre 2533529 had 14mm but I haven't ever seen anything confirming this but it might depend on factory, market, production date not registion date
