As per my Grumpy thread:

Why is such a good car as the GP spoilt by having such a c*** network behind it.

Booked my GP in for its first year service. Because of the low mileage I was offered a low mileage service, saving around £90.
I asked if it was possible to have it done on the four post ramp and to watch. Yes said the receptionist.

So far so good

Turned up today and the "Fiat trained technician"

took the car in and immediately put it over a two poster. Then he goes round checking out the doors and tailgate and lets the tailgate hit the overhead exhaust emission pipe. Thankfully I'm watching and clearly hear the metallic clunk as the two met

The t*** carries on as if nothing happens.

Then he starts to put the ramp legs under the body and at that point I ask him if he's seen the job card as it clearly stated how I wanted the thing done. All I got told was no one was to tell him his job

What like damaging the car- brilliant - you mouth breathing slime.

Perhaps someone should tell you how to look after customer's property.

Anyway the Service manager told me it couldn't be done on the 4 poster and his staff were wrong to tell me different.

So I left, having been promised the tailgate will be fixed.

Just another example of why I never leave sight of any of my cars in a garage.

If I hadn't been watching I'm sure they would have denied it.

Bought the parts from elsewhere and serviced it myself.

Stoneacre are the Fiat dealer in Lincoln.

Having had previous bad experiences with them, the Cooperative claim they are service agents, so I gave them a go.

Never again.

I think all main dealers can be difficult very much luck if you get a good 'technician' as they are called these days. I guess they are service agents due to the Chrysler dealership? Although I was told I couldn't make warranty claims through a fiat dealer on our Chrysler so figure the opposite also applies. Just had our mx5 serviced at coop seems OK perhaps we were lucky although I haven't checked around it since, the wife didn't want me to use my trusted independent whilst it was under warranty. Tbh I can understand that a main dealer will not like customers in the workshop liabilities h and s risk etc....dinging your car isn't good though although I know at least two people who years ago had their car written off during the after service test drive! Not by the coop I should add!

Hi rossocorsa

The plan was to stand at the door to watch or in the MOT waiting bay.

Having been in the trade for a number of years I too have seen cars written off on post service "jollies". Hence again my reluctance to let my car out of my sight.

they can do Warranty approved servicing - (as can ANY VAT approved garage fitting the correct parts), (y)
it the Warranty work that had to go to "approved workshops", that's the bugbear - you have to go to an "approved" multifranchise place with clueless , uninterested staff ,
when you would happily take it to an Italian Car specialist , who'll do a better job all - round,

in my opinion the ONLY downside of owning a FIAT is having the deal with FIAT UK,
they close down all the smaller specialist garages that give good service - and give the franchise to a national chain who don't give a toss about FIAT.:bang:

It's the downside of buying almost any new or nearly new car from anywhere not just fiats, bought our Chrysler from one of the few independent Chrysler dealers whilst they did drop a clanger during the transaction at least they were humans not part of a faceless group unfortunately they are a very long way from me so can't go there for service
