Technical cooling system

need help !!!!!!
i recently bought a punto 97 55 S
i leave in israel
and i noticed that the cooling system (the fan) is not working and the car is heating up all the time
i changed the unit
and now it's working only sometimes and for the first time i have this red light comes on now

i don't have the manual for the car

can any one help with that?????

the red light means, stop the engine it is too hot, you may have an air lock or need new thermostat,

thing is that when i turn the a/c on then it's working ok

is it still the thermostat?

The Fan Will Cut In When You Switch On The Air Con, The Air Con Gas Needs To Be Cooled So The Trinary Switch On The Aircon Switches On The Rad Fan To Cool Down The Refrigerant, Check The Coolant In The Engine, Suspect Headgasket Has Gone!!!!
