Styling Convertable Cinq

Has ne1 thought of turning their Cinq sporting into a convertable? or has ne1 done it or seen pictures??
I would love to give it a try!!!

it would need so much strenthning(sp) to stop it twisting to bits, the engine would not pull the car no more you can get full roof sunroof cinqs though

ive seen a fewpics of one.. got a quote from a bodyshop that does mini conversions... £4000 for the lot with manual roof.

It should be possible - but would take a hell of a lot of cash to get it done, as I don't think you can get a kit commercially. It is also a very involved process - you can't just cut the roof off!
I've got a picture somewhere comparing the Cooper S convertible and its solid roof cousin in terms of chassis structure. The convertible needed extra metal in the sills, in the floor, bulkhead, some in the engine bay, and a few other bits. You would also need a roll over hoop behind the B Pillar, and the hood would need to be custom built.
Mind you, could always have a Punto convertible - there's a N plate Punto cab. for sale round my way for 1900 quid IIRC. I thought it was a bit pricey, but I would guess converting a Cinq would cost a lot more, especially if you can't do the bulk of the work yourself!

You have 2 options -

1 - Buy a Cinq Soleil (special edition). It has a full length fabric sunroof

2 - Buy a Webasto sunroof (they cost about 700 quid new) and fit it yourself. Mind you, you would need to be brave cos you need to cut most of your roof away!

you can only get the solei versions with a 899cc engine though. and they look a little tacky imo. would be great in the summer though!

bleh, back seats are overrated

but yeah, the back could look better imo. still looks lovely! i havent found any pics of the roof up though, provided it does actually go up??

Ok, ok, its not a convertable...... but its a Cinq pick-up!!! Included a shot of the interior too! Oh and a 5 door Cinq thrown in for good measure!
