Constructive Debate Regarding...Headlights/Foglights

Manufacturers generally install fog lamps to 'sporty' models or higher spec. As Carroll mentioned, most fools that drive with them are trying to advertise that their car is not 'bog standard'.
"Look at me and my corsa - its nothing like the 50 million others built".

"they only point at the floor" is unfortunately not true most of the time :)

What do I suggest ? Whatever you feel most comfortable in doing. Ultimately, if they are behind you and it's dark and they are not paying any attention to the courteous reminders you are giving them, then you can always use you rear view mirrors anti glare feature, or simply let them pass. Both those measures are simple and effective and should cause no antagonism of the feckwit behind you.

Once behind them however, you could give them a taste of their own treatment ;) ;)

As for where I live, I currently live in deepest, darkest Suffolk but have lived or worked in every county that forms our fantastic region and apart from the far flung backwaters of the Fens (Wisbech/King's Lynn etc) where everyone shares the same surname and sends their brothers Fathers Day cards, most places are not as you describe. Sure, each city/town has it's hotspots (Mile Cross & the Larkman in Norwich, Witton & Whitehouse in Ipswich, Mildenhall Road in Bury, Arbury in Cambridge, Abbey Farm in Thetford, etc) but if you insist on driving through those areas at night winding the locals up, you're asking for a good kicking ! :)

LOL third person but forgetting to remove ones own name, and that the forum stores your IP

not the perfect crime...

I have never been dazzled by someones fog lights I'm afraid, xenons yes, fag lamps no. Surely going up and down hills you are more likely to be dazzled from behind by peoples standard headlamps that are at the right level to go through your windscreen and hit your mirror than fog lamps that are on the bottom of the bloody car??!!

Range Rovers dazzle/blind me sometimes becauses they have xenons and are at eye level. Fog lamps that shine onto the road aren't an issue for me. Law or not. Fog lamps positioned higher up however may be a problem.

Dazzled or not Dom - law :)
I would lie if I would say I have never broken it in my life but thats the way it is whether you believe in it or not. I personally believe that it doe no harm driving over 70mph on a moptorway and that the speed limit should be 90. This does not mean that because I belive in it I can go ahead and do it.
Dont use your fogs - its against the law and itr pi**es people off :)

yes Dom, headlights also dazzle on a hill, but they are neccesary and not against the law you muppet!

:)

But WHY does it **** people off? It isn't my fogs that dazzle them as they are in the front valance and don't point high enough to dazzle anyone! Plus, my Bravo headlamps are ****e and an extra illumination of the road at night is most welcome. I think I shall continue to **** people off with my fogs and take the risk of being pulled over.

I shall now strategically exit from this topic, not because I am losing you see but because I have clearly eveloved at a faster rate than the rest of you ;)

Although it seems my spelling has not evolved at quite the same rate...

eveloved huh, that certainly is something none of us have done.

Cheers,

Ed

fogs

it's not really fronts that bother anyone more than the rear one/s being left on in town driving or in traffic / motorways etc. Once followed , we know you are there, then switch em off, it'll give better chance of brake lights being seen. :)

Speak for yourself! Front aggravate me as the person driving will be purposely driving with them on most of the time. Rears can be dazzling but you can half forgive them as they have probably forgotten that they are on after a foggy period. A little flash and a quick flick of your front fogs usually lets them know. In most cases they will switch off and give you a thankful wave.

Let's not forget the w@nkers who sit at traffic lights etc at night with their foot on the footbrake, dazzling the poor B'stards behind then, ferking up their night sight !!!

so you accept 'forgetting' to turn the fogs off, like forgetting to stop when the traffic lights turn red too....eh

I guess you drive with yours on so other drivers flash at you and you feel popular .

That's a real bug bear of yours, isn't it Mark ;)
