Ok I just joined the forum as I am desperate & found no info on the forum so far so here is another winger.
I have a 2008 Fiat Ducato Motorhome, 160 Multijet, 3.0 litre diesel. The old "Gear unselectable". In a Sydney Fiat Professional workshop since October and still unable to drive ?. Changed the Hydraulic Unit, Slave cylinder, Gearbox ECU, Wiring loom, all four "4" Gearbox Solenoids, Gearbox was removed & clutch is good as it was changed about 15,000KM ago. Got them a donor gearbox for parts. They say the gear box is OK but the clutch will not move and drive. Any one had a problem similar to mine and got it fixed, if so how and where. Never get a FIAT DUCATO again.

True about the Fiat software but buy a copy of mes this software saved me £1500 and the rest
I did the gearbox updates and clutch kiss point myself I tested to see which sensors worked and did not
Amazing what you can do in this software on the parameters
My RV is now at another Fiat Professional workshop in Sydney, the first one in the western suburbs NSW but what a change in attitude. This workshop keeps me updated and answer the phone every time where the previous one just forwards me to voice mail and don’t return calls. I was told that after trouble shooting the new workshop found that clutch solenoid was incorrectly installed to a flow control type so they were not able to bleed the clutch or change gears. Now that all the solenoids were verified and installed in correct positions they were able to drive my RV but 15 minute’s into the drive a fault came up so they need recheck all the other things that the previous workshop carried out. The point here is that I paid about $10,000 AUD to the previous workshop plus over $5,000 for a gearbox & gearbox ECU from the wreckers that were not required due to wrong diagnostics and incorrect parts location/replacement. How can that be normal but as we all know in disputes the lawyers are the only ones that make any money. At the end of all of this I will give feedback to the General Manager of the first workshop and give them a one star rating.

Hmmmm....Let me guess! The first "workshop" was Peter Warren, and now you are in the safe hands of Foley's! Am I correct?
I can’t use names as those crooks will try to shut me up, you don’t need to be a rocket scientist to work it out. Everything I wrote is true, some change oils but lack diagnostic skills. I feel confident that the new workshop will get it running as they have a great attitude and keep the customer informed. I should have tried someone else but when they pull the guts out of the gearbox, I was locked in. I used local but that was my choice and my fault. When it drives I love it as it has a lot of power, smooth to drive and feels like driving a car. I now have a workshop that can fix it. Happy days so use the inners city one please.

Sorry you are going through this but I keep saying this to EVERYONE always check solenoid and sensors 98% of this time this is the issue

for years now I have been making threads and doing YouTube videos showing people the fixes because even to someone that isn’t a mechanic they can do everything it requires
The clutch change and gearbox the absolute last thing to try if all else fails
But out of the hundreds of comments I have literally seen maybe 10 needing clutch

The amount of folk that come to this thread always find a sensor or solenoid or brake switch to be the issue

Changing a solenoid you have to change fluids that’s also a great thing to do after
So every 2 year change fluids and keep on top of them not just top them up

If you have a 10 years or older van change the accumulator

But that’s what I did I started changing sensors first the cheapest

But depending on the issue has my van was showing no gears available when I went into first gear which is Evo solenoid

Fiat ar'nt much better here.
Repair???
Whats that??
Why not buy a new vehicle Sir.
Cant tell you the price but its only £2000 a month. . . . .
Can’t sell the old one if it is un drivable, I love it when it drives and the new ones have a gearbox torque convertor firmware setting issue that will overload it and then metal shavings destroys it. I know how can that be that they can do it again making the gearbox the weak point.
