Hi to one and all, I seem to have developed a problem with the clutch on my P reg 1.9td Ulysse. I have just returned from a trouble free (barring the weather)week caravanning in Norfolk.
Then a day after we got back I was changing gear from 2nd to 3rd and the clutch pedal made a weird sort of creaking noise and the pedal was suddenly flat to the floor. The car was then stuck in 2nd so I forced it into neutral and rolled to a stop.
I reached down expecting to find the cable snapped, but the pedal popped back up (under the power of the spring) and proceeded to work normally.
This 'collapse' of the clutch pedal is happening more and more often and is not dependant on speed, gear or the way the pedal is depressed. It almost feels like a mechanism designed to prevent cable damage but I cannot find any references to it in any Fiat literature.
Any help would be very much appreciated as I cannot seem to locate the problem
Many Thanks Grahamn
The clutch is apparently a mechanical self adjusting type with no pedal free play ???
