Hi All

Firstly apologies if this has been covered before but could not find it on a search

2005 Fiat Panda 1.3 Multijet Dynamic Manual

I have had the engine management light come on and the two codes are EGR Valve and the Clutch Position Sensor, Egr has failed before so I know where that is, If anyone knows how to clear the code without replacing the EGR (Horrible Job)

But where is the clutch position sensor located and what is the result for the rest of the car if the ECU thinks the Clutch position Sensor is broken faulty ?

Any help gratefully received

Best Regards

Marc

Hi DaveMcT, thanks for the reply if a manual car does not have a Clutch Position Sensor then what does that Error code mean for a Manual Gearbox

I am confused

Hi Chris

thanks for the reply, if I have it wrong and it is the switch on the clutch pedal what is its purpose and is there a way of testing it operation

Best Regards

Marc

There is a clutch switch.

I have a 2005, and mines got clutch switch fitted.....I had to wire into it when I fitted cruise control. It's a simple plunger switch, same as brake switch. Touch the brake or clutch and cruise control turns off.

No idea what it's normally used for though. I'd imagine it's a cheap part, unclips from bracket above pedal.

My EGR died, so fitted an EGR simulator kit. Cost around £60, but effectively switches off the EGR valve, and mimics it's signal to keep ECU happy.

It even reduced the emissions at the MOT test....tester said it was significantly cleaner than the latest cars.

Does the car require you to press the clutch down to start the car?
Can't see any other reason for it in a none start stop/none cruise control equiped car?

No...... absolutely no idea what it's used for.

Only thing I can think of is that possibly some cars may have had cruise control fitted as standard, and they fitted them to all cars regardless??

Or didn't they make a semi-auto gearbox? Possibly used for that, but again fitted to all cars??
