on way home last night , clutch cable broke, 15 mile drive home without clutch, had to stop twice (once on a hill - fun!) almost lost rag with it and walked but it was raining so didn't.

are these common to breaking?

they are very common, i was upto 5 cables on the last count, or was it 6, i carry 3 spares with me now, i seem to have a thing for collecting clutch cables

Forgive me if im being stupid, but how can you drive any distance without a clutch cable??

I know a few of you have done it when your cables have gone - but how????

Ive done a few "slip out of gears" but never tried to drive totally without my clutch.

Smooth, clutchless gear changes are possible, just need to 'synchronise' in terms of revs before shifting gears.

Takes a bit of practise, but is possible.

Gaz, with the amount you've spent on cables you might be better off getting a new clutch fitted!
im having a nightmare fitting the 'un-breakable' cable, ive been doing it for 2 hours and still no luck, ive decided to leave the car alone for a few hours cause i would end up kicking it:mad:

my cable just snapped again last night :(

time for the 'un-breakable' one
hahahahah. lmao!

That's the funniest thing i've read on here today. Gaz, you're a star! :D

i have finally managed to bodge together a sort of fit, the un-breakable is very hard to use, and very hard to fit :(

im taking it to a garage to look over it cause if its this stiff then i will be unable to use it

i take my foot off the pedal, but they pedal doesnt actually come up until a few secs later, its a right nightmare(n)
