Hi,

I have a 2003 Mk2b 1.3 Multijet Punto.

There is clunking noise when I am slowing down, often when I am clutching/declutching to slow down, I can't really tell where it's coming from.

Car recently MOT'd, replaced front discs and pads, advisory for Front and Rear Lower Suspension Arm Bushings. I was able to look under car briefly at the MOT, but couldn’t really see anything that was obviously loose/broken.

My friend suggests maybe an engine mount, not sure how to check these or if it would be something that could be fixed easily.

Wondered if anyone had come across this problem before.

Thanks,

Seth

If the suspension bushes got advisory it's unlikely to be them. Your friend is probably on the right track. The engine mounts are fairly tough but there is a connecting link at the gearbox which has rubber bits that perish. It's fairly straightforward to replace or some have simply replaced the rubber bushes. Look underneath the box, find the connecting link and get someone to rock the motor back and forth. The play would be fairly obvious.
