Technical Cleaning Idle Valve

Is it possible to clean the idle valve on a Mk2 1.6 engine ?

I've heard you can remove and clean on the Mk1 but not the Mk2 ?

i had a look in my haynes last night and couldnt find any mention of differences between the idle speed control valve on the mk1 and mk2. i guess thats means you can clean it exactly as you would for a mk1.
