Wasn't sure where to post this but here will do.....

Right the question is;

- What product can you use to keep the brake dust from building up on your alloys after cleaning them as it's driving me insane!

I'm sure there's something i've seen that you put on and forms a protective layer that just wipes clean.......

Cheers in advance (y)

Dependent on how intricate your wheels (i.e. not multi spokes) are I've found that if you use a good quality car polish, the same as you would use on the the body work, means that the brake dust is a lot easier to remove next time you wash the wheels as the polish gives a protective barrier.

Oh yeah and another tip is, take the wheels off and wash them inside as generally this doesn't get done that often on small wheels where you can't see the inside of the rim (Like the Cinq wheels) and all the brake dust, and oil & other sheeit thats sits in there finds its way out on to your nice clean wheel within about 2miles of driving.

Again once all clean, polish them, or if lots of tar & stuff is stuck to them t-cut them then polish to reseal as then the brake dust has more chance of slipping off rather than stick to the old dirt.

How about using good brake pads to minimise the dust coming off?

The Halfrauds kind and the cheapos give dust off like theres no tomorrow.

Whilst we're on the topic of wheels...

The previous owner stuck some crappy plastic stickers over the brand name of the alloy wheels and I've been unable to remove the stickiness it simply with car shampoo and elbow grease! I was wondering if there was any advice on what I can use to remove the sticky mess that's been left there as the stickers have been pulled off. Someone suggested using white spirit and someone else has said use boiling water. Would either of these damage the wheels and is there anything else I should use instead?

I'd rather not buy a special solution simply to remove a couple of sticky bits on each wheel.

I agree, my EBCs dont produce any visible crap and my wheels are dead easy to clean.
