Mine, before it started to have this problem, the max temp was always around 90.When the car was moving the temp was around 80, the line under the 90 mark.

Ralf thanks for posting the accurate figures, very helpful.

I should have looked up the figures properly before my post rather than relying on my memory.

Paulino does your fan now run for longer than a few seconds at a time?

If fan is still not running long enough for temperature to drop renew switch in radiator.

Can you post part number of thermostat you recently fitted please ?

Yes the same problem.Works only for a few seconds. But now at least starts to work at 90 degrees.Starts and stops, and going up until it reaches 100 degrees. From then and after it is stayble.Won't go any higher.

Now the online shop that i bought the thermostat has 3 part numbers for the original part.

FIAT / LANCIA: 0007729959
FIAT / LANCIA: 7670764
FIAT / LANCIA: 7729959

this is the Thermostat

I changed the swicth when i changed the thermostat...can the switch have two types like the thermostat?one that turns on at a lower temp than the other?

0007729959 and 7729959 are the same, just without the leading "0"s.

7729959 is correct, it replaced p/n 7670764 in 1992.

Problem solved...but not from me.At friday I took the car to a Fiat garage. And the guy told me that the hose tha feeds the water pump with the expansion tank was blocked by sludge...propably from the previous owner, didn't take care of the car a lot.I wasn't sure if it was actualy the problem so i didn't want to post earlier.
