Hi, I recently bought a Cinquecento S ('95 N) and still havn't figuered out an easy way of unlocking the steering wheel. Is there a certain trick I have failed to discover? At the moment I have to try turning either left or right... and trying to turn the ignition at the same time, but its rather arkward and if a better method exists I'd rather use it!

Thanks in advance.

You need to stop moving the steering wheel when the key isn't in the ignition on position that way the steering lock won't come on at all

and the thieves will have an even easier time of nicking your car.

the way that beastyjay said is the way i get mine off and i also use a fullface steering lock.

just turn the key and giggle the wheel a bit till it unlocks.thats wot i do and it works fine

I don't know if other ppl hav the same scenario as me, but the ignition locks at the same time as the wheel...
Otherwise if this should be read as try to turn the ignition and jiggle the wheel, thats more or less what I was doing...
Refering to 1st reply, practice would seem to be the best method!

P.S. Refering back to 'MotorWorldChink', knowing how *not simple* it is to unlock the wheel easily, I only lock it when I don't know / don't trust the area I'm parked in!

I did it slowly today for you to work out what I did. Put the key in and as I turned the key half way across the first click, I slowly pulled the wheel down on the left. Perfect!

I always leave my steering lock on and the car in gear.

same here always leave the car in gear.reason being my drive is on a slope and the cinq handbrake being as crap as it is the car slightly rolls back.
