Just wondering if anyone has a link or guide to removal and refitting of engine. Gonna put a new engine in as the engine in the car is ruined. Just find a guide is a good thing to have when doing these jobs.
Thanks
Chris

The easiest way to do this, in my experience, is to take the whole engine/gearbag assembly out of the bottom of the car, split them on the ground, then reassemble and refit.

Look for the FAQs on engine sawps. It will talk about the 1242, but getting the engine in and out is very similar.

I lift the car at the front, drain all fluids, take the battery out, then take the front bumper and radiator off.

Take the manifolds off the engine, your choise of whether to drop the down pipe first. Disconnect the electrics and tie them out of the way. Drop the driveshafts, remember that these are a wet inner joint, so again chose which way you want to go.

When everything is undone, lower the car so the engine is on a pallet, then undo the three mounts. Lift the car off the engine and drag the pallet out.

Swap engines, then reverse the procedure.

Cheers
