General cinqs on motorways

General cinqs on motorways

good, because one of the things I want to do is go visit my mum who lives in lancashire (im in basingstoke).... so deffinetly motorway....

Basingstoke to Lancs, no problem.

I went from London to Oberhausen in Germany and back to London in one day last year. (about 640miles). Back in time for dinner too!

Can sit at 90mph+ in the Cinq all day long, of course with a bit of music to drown out the 5000+rpm you'll be doing at that speed !

If my 899cc Sei can do almost 500 miles in a day without any complaints then I'm sure a 1.1 will manage. The only problem I find is that it can struggle if there's a slight hill, or a wind blowing against you. I find 60-70mph works quite well, and you can watch the idiots in the outside lane all slamming their brakes on just because they don't look beyond end of their nose.

glade im hearing all this as i am of to cornwall this summer in my sie sporting and was just a bit weary, but feel a lot better now yay:D

We're off to Cornwall in our 899, starting off in Lancs, via Leicester to Bude!

i dont like the motorway,me exhaust gets annoying after 5hours constant and buckled wheels, bearings gone and other little gay rattles don't help, me hands felt like id been pusing a mower for ages.

But if the car is well kept, they'll run like a dream. treat them nice and they'll hopfully treat you nice:)

At the end of the day, motorway driving probably causes the least stress on an engine than any other type of driving, no stopping and starting (apart from the inevitable traffic jam) just cruising along.. Its why you can get cheap motorway crusiers with massive miles on and they still feel tight as anything and run like a dream so long as they've been serviced

3 important things when driving with limited power....
1.. Momentum
2.. Momentum
3.. Momentum.....

So true! Any hill I know I'm approaching, I tend to give a larger distance between the car infront so I can get a better approach speed. It surprising how much difference it makes!

yeah but i did do 100mph from liecester to milton keynes on christmas day on the M1... its a good 70 odd miles down the M1 i think and sat at 5.5k for that length of time isnt good :p car made it home but didnt start the next day

cruising at 70-80 in a cinq is no problem atall, they even have a bit of overtaking power if you need to.

Sounds like we got close to being able to do a spot of fishing on the M1 earlier what with that Dam nearly bursting!!!

I'm looking forward to my yearly trek down to Bournemouth being under my own steam for the 2nd time, will be country roads (by choice) all the way but it is so much more fun :)

I haven't looked into what the Tregustick site will be like for groups of people nor walking distance from the unleased festival. Although the Trevelgue is easy walking distance... just so damn expensive! :(
