Ive got a '96 Sporting with just over 70K on the clock, and recently its been making a nasty noise from the diff end of the gearbox..

Turns out to be the driveshaft bearing (passenger side), which now has quite alot of play in it and its slowly eating itself away..

I cant remember if I've taking the whole gearbox out before when I did the clutch, any time estimations would be helpful..

Also, as I need a new g'box and my local scrap yeard has a 1.1i punto there, will that have the same box? hopeso..

thanks

Box is same yes, except gear ratios will be longer and the clutch actuation arm is shorter (meaning the clutch pedal is slightly harder).

Box needs offing to do the clutch...it takes a pro about 2-3 hrs I think, I can swap boxes in 4-5 hrs :D
