Hi Guys,

I want to do a conversion with punto parts on my cinq. I'm not going down any expensive routes as its a cheap run around that cost me £100 but as usual i'm unable to resist leaving it alone. My other car is my EVO 6 so thats see's most of my financial attention so unfortunately anything for the cinq will need to be hand me downs. I reckon 70hp/ftlb could be achieved going down this route.

I've got a chip from mcrich as a start as for £47 quid looking at the graphs you cant knock it. However this will probably be the only new part except service items i'll buy.

What are my options, below is what I was thinking of doing.

1242cc from punto 60 with 32mm TB, 75 cam and chip

1242cc bottom end from 60 or 75 with 1108 head, 75 cam, 32mm TB and chip

I went round some of my local breakers yards today but most of them have gone or have nothing of use so i'm going to have to phone round salvage yards and get it shipped to me in one hit. Therefore I need to know what i'm ordering, I will self admit i'm no Fiat expert.

Do I have any other options considering my budget for this is about £250. I dont want to change the exhaust as I dont want it loud. Also how restrictive is the standard airbox and filters, can anything be done with it?

Any advise or ideas greatly appreciated.

Cheers from Ross

It's pretty much all in the FAQs/howtos.

I'm assuming you're starting with a Cinq Sporting?

Many P60s have P75 cams, so (check and) that's the most direct route. You need a spacer for the exhaust mani (or just modify the exhaust with a bit of cut n'shut). The other route will work fine, too. You'll need to re-shim a P75 cam in a Cinq head (and to P75 clearances), but it's not brain surgery.

Best bet for the intake is a GSR.

A 1242 is a nicer car to drive than a stock Cinq: won't be a lot faster, but much easier to drive due to the extra torque.

Thanks for the reply, yes its a cinq sporting. Reshimming is no problem once you've worked on evo heads anything else is pretty easy. As for the spacer I was going to go to one of those custom exhaust places and ask them if they'd just sell me a flange.

Whats the difference between the 1108 head and the head in punto 60's and 75's any at all?

Thanks from ross

if you get a 1242 engine from a may 1997 punto60 (iirc engine code 176.b4, but not 100% sure) then it's likely to have the P75 cam. The cam is stamped '866', as opposed to 176 i think for the other ones.

what are you like with a dremel? the p75 TB is 38mm and can be made to fit the SPI setup, there is a thread on here by DJ_Bucho on how to do it.

if you're doing it on the cheap, then stock P75 exhaust manifold is a 4>2>1 and with some fettling should be easy to mate with the rest of the system.

What car can you get the 36mm TB from, its no problem to open up a spacer or bypass pipes but as I dont have any decent scrappies locally I need to phone round.

the 60 and 75 are both 1242cc engines. The bottom ends are essentially the same. The 75 is MPI, the head has bigger ports and it has a slightly different stud pattern on the inlet manifold to accomodate the injectors in the inlet.

the 1108 and 1242 SPI heads are interchangeable

here is that thread on the 38mm (p75) TB; https://www.fiatforum.com/cinquecento-seicento/23249-punto-75-throttle-body.html

As usual arc you are a wealth of knowledge(y). I'm pretty good with a dremel. What kind of fettling is required with the TB and manifold off a 75.

(y)

i've added the link for the TB, the manifold will bolt right onto the head - but i can't remember where it comes out underneath, but it shouldn't take much effort to get a bit of pipe bent to line it all up again.

ah yeah, i forgot about the uno manifold. It's off an UNO45 (999cc FIRE, carb model, also panda sisley 1108cc iirc) it'll need the ports opening up to suite, but it's a better flowing inlet manifold.
