Hello,

at the mo ive got a janspeed full exhaust system on my cinq, i am thinking of putting the janspeed manifold on it too. I was wondering if it is really worth doing if i am going to be keepign the CAT in?, Will the CAT restrict it too much?

Has anyone got a performance manifold on?

cheers

what do you do come MOT time?, do you swap CAT back?, is the exhaust alot louder now?

By law you should have a CAT if the car was registered after Aug '91 (i believe) but if you can find a friendly MOT station and keep your CAT at home plus the car records good emissions (i.e. it's not some smoking wreck) then they normally let you through. The caveat being that if by chance you every get stopped by the police and they notice the CAT has been removed (unlikely) you can say it's at home keeping the MOT station in the clear and friendly for next year (y)

PS removing a CAT on its own should not in crease the sound levels :)

The Haynes covers the Cinq only. The Porter covers the Brava(o), Cinq and Sei, Marea and another one I think. Its very very vague, but has very accurate wiring diagrams.

My Porters is covered in filth, somewhere in my garage, the Haynes isnt. :D
The difference is that the Haynes is fairly useful...the Porters book isnt as much by a long shot.

If you do remove the cat and are stopped by a road by emissions test (i was stopped about 3 months back) and they see that you have replaced the cat with a through pipe (and its an after 91' car) you will be fined and points added to your licence as you have knowingly broke the law. My mate got a £60 fine (not sure how many points) a while back. so be careful!

I can safely say that the janspeed manifold is worth the money for the improvements in torque it gives you! Gives you a bit more kick under acceleration, when fitted to the rest of the janspeed system is still quite discreet apart from when it is opened up. My friend Alex has the janspeed and it seems good. I personally have the supersprint which is fantastic for my sei mpi, but I don't know how you would go about getting one for the cinq!! I think both are very good.

ah but if it looks like a sports cat u can claim its a sports cat that must not be functioning properly? "i'll swap the standard cat back on the second i get home"

I heard the guys at the roadside have the power to impound your car there and then should it be breaking emissions and there's nowt you can do.
