Hello,

My cinq sporting's exhaust baffles were rattling so i got a full janspped fitted. The noise that i have before has got quieter from that but there is still a vibration coming from under the car when i pull away and at low revs (3-4000). I'm guessing its from the the CAT and have heard it could be the CATs heatshield.

Anyone have any ideas?, if it is the heatshield can it be replaced and how much?

any help please!,

it could be the heatshield, some to checl would be the rear gearbox mount as if this has gone it can cause the zorst to catch when pulling away.

i have the same noise... the the zorst hitting the heat shield. a little bit of tightening and altering of the zorst sorts it. i sorted it but then hut my zorst on a speed bump and the noise is back heh... will sort again this weekend probably

How wasy is it to do, im a novice with all this stuff, what im a looking for? Is it easy to tell its a heatshield?

My centre section was doing that...

I just took the heatshield off...and remodelled the floor pan a bit with the Universal Adjusting Tool (Mk 1) - A 2lb Lump Hammer

Rattle's sorted and the car hasnt failed the MoT on the exhaust- well that part anyway!

Are you loosing power when you move off, or accelarate? if so this is most likely to be the cat... the stuff inside is loose, and blocking the exhaust.

Arse...: The universal adjuster is a great tool, and think you should get a universal wrench and spanner extender aka scafolding pole... they come in a range of handy sizes to match the torq for the job!

Oooh Yeah... I have the spanner extender, just need a wrench that'll fit!

Could be the cat heat shield, which is a flimsy piece of tin attached to the cat (first box on the exhaust). If so, just rip it off.

Would i need to re attach a heatsheild?

I have a universal spanner/wrench - only problem ive found with it is it doesnt work when the car is on axle stands and you are working under the car. I tried to get my rear trailing arm off but couldnt get the nut next to the exhaust pipe undone - not enuf clearance!!!!

I just bent mine outta the way. I need some longer mounting rubbers for the back box though. can't be bothered at the moment!

Full janspeed what? Back Box or system?

Who fitted it? Could be on improperly, not on one of the hangers or maybe hitting the rear towing eye.

Get it up on the ramps and check it over and maybe cut off the towing eye, I did.
