Changed from 0w 30 to 10w 40

Hi ALL,
i put fully synthetic castrol edge 0w 30 into my 1.2 8 valve punto 6 months ago,but was advised to go back to 10w 40 semi synthetic which i did yesterday,i auctually noticed a small leak of oil from the head gasket,hope the 10w 40 will improve things and i havent wrecked the seals in the engine,any advice appreciated,
