Bought car today, Stilo Abarth, and the gararge has put a cd in the stereo whilst fixing something and forgot it was there, i picked up and the cd is still there and now it won`t eject, HELP!! any ideas please

Assuming you're referring to the Connect Nav+, you will need to remove it from the dashboard and remove the top cover. The grey part inside the top of the unit is the CD mechanism.

There's a lever on the top of the CD mechanism to mechanically eject a stuck CD. Unfortunately I can't remember which one it is but it should be obvious.

If you can't find it, I have some spare CN+s. I'll dismantle one to find out where the lever is for you.

Thats all well and good but if the mechanism is fubard then it could be a difficult task to fix. If the mechanism sounds like its trying to work then i have used a pair of tweezers to help a cd on its way in the past.
It could be dust in the gear stoping it from working so if all else fails then it may be worth gaining access to it and giving it a good go over with electrical spray.

Davren, I didn´t find this lever. Can you help me please?
Probably my eject button isn´t working since I changed the CD reader mechanism and didn´t work. Do you figure what would it be?

tks

Sorry, I was thinking of a different model, it's not a lever as I posted earlier.

For the CN+, you need to remove the top cover then remove the screw holding the eject motor. You'll need a T6 screwdriver for the screw.

Lift the motor up just enough so you can get a finger on the edge of the white plastic gear wheel (arrowed red) then turn the gear wheel clockwise until the CD comes out.

As you turn the gear wheel, the metal tab (arrowed yellow) should move to the left and the CD should start to come out. You can only turn the gear wheel a small amount at a time, so each time you need release it, hold the tab so it doesn't spring back then turn the gear wheel a bit more until the CD is out.

Davren, I had to buy a Torx T06 screw driver but now this is solved!

I also discovered that only the firmware CD stucks. How? after I took it off manually, I inserted the setup CD in order to change language. The eject button now works fine. It goes in and out anytime I want!

The bad news is that it fails to change the language. Also it says that the audio is off and every audio menu option is gray.

Version is brand new 9.8

I bought it used and it never worked.....

Seem as though you may have bought a broken CN+. (n)

If you can get to the " SETUP " screen, you can see the self diagnostics for the CN+. It may tell you which, if any modules are not working.

Access it as follows:

  1. Switch the CN+ on and wait a few minutes until it has fully started.
  2. Press "SETUP".
  3. Press "CONNECT" (button 10,11 or 12) once then wait 1 second and press it again 3 times quickly.
  4. Press "ENTER".
  5. A new button labeled "SERVICE" or "AID" should appear on the screen.
  6. Scroll down to the new button and press "ENTER"
This should show 4 pages of diagnostic information and a test for the speakers.

Sometimes you need to go through the process a few times before the "SERVICE" or "AID" button appears.

I did it. Except for the radio items, everything was green. strange because i also did the speakers test and heard nothing. the gsm versions had strange characters.

on main screen it says radio off and tel off

ain´t there no code to type in and realease the outputs? I thought v9.8 would do it but the menus remain gray and unavailable....

No.... there's not a code to magically fix it. :)

Did the 9.8 firmware update successfully?

If it did, it should show "9.8" in the bottom right corner of the blue FIAT screen for a few seconds when you first switch the CN+ on.

Also, on the second diagnostic screen it should show "SW Version 01N192L4009.8". 9.8 at the end confirms the software version.

Yes, the startup screen shows 9.8 and I did almost 20 upgrades due to the problem with the ejection of the cd :bang:

and the SW version is the one you mentioned but.....

I´m not sure if the upgrade was successful just because after reaching 100% it always showed a blank screen and I had to disconnect and reconnect the cables

Today I burned another CD with v9.8 and tried again.....same problem

I don´t remember how much I paid but it isn´t that expensive. Anyway the risk is mine, if it arrives damaged.

I guess I need only the mainboard because everything else seems to work ok, video, front panel, cd reader, gsm reader and the cage is fine too....
