Purchased a cd head unit from someone upgrading to aftermarket sound for my Stilo with standard cassette. Fitted it, wired it up and i'm getting the,
M-CODE message...

Whats to do now???

helpssss!@!

Sounds like you need a code card?! What was supplied with the new head unit?

Ah, is this a FIAT head unit or another make? DO you have the Code Card for the car?

It is the original fiat cd headunit that was in the other persons car. It is now in mine. There was no code card with it, just the headunit.

It displays - M -CODE when turned on in my car!???

Then you need the code for it - my bro-in-law did same in his JTD, upgraded to the CD unit - he purchased it off eBay, and I remember him needing the code to enter....

You still in touch with the seller?

Yeah I can ask him no problems. He's a nice guy with 1000s of feedback so i doubt its gonna cauz a problem...

I dont suppose it can be found anywhere on the headunit itself or is the number only on the card...?

The code should be regestered with the car at the dealers - Just find out the Plate - Ring the dealer - They should have it on the cars record.

I had the same problem when the battery went flat on a works Van, just rang them up with the reg - got the code - sorted (y)

I think once the Headunit is registered with the body computer, it is not a problem if it is being removed constantly - again, try disconnecting battery and reconnecting; you shouldn't need a code.

Well getting in touch with the guy who sold me item (who is very understanding) it seems that the code his has is not working = reason being the cd player was changed under warranty by the dealer thus rendering his code usless. The dealer fitted the new player and did not supply a new code...

Suffice to say he is ringing the dealer today to get the code and hopefully i'll have some sound in my car

Believe it or not, I had my CD player changed under warranty, and the code for the new one is on a sticker stuck on the top of the unit! (I suppose it would have to be, otherwise how would the dealer set it up). Mine has "RADIO CODE" in bold letters followed by the 4-digit code, and you can't miss it. The radio can be unattached from the same car as much as you like (it keeps its presets, but loses its sound setings etc.) it is only when it is attached to a different Stilo that it wants the radio code.

Hope this helps.
