I am pretty sure this one has been asked before but I couldn't find it.

When you switch off the ignition and power down the stereo in my Abarth, and then restart it, the head unit remembers where it was on the disc, but when you try and resume it goes back to the start of the disc and plays from the first track.

I guess one way around this would be to play on random at all times, but I was wondering whether anyone had found a way around this.

Cheers

Welcome to the wonderful world of owning a Stilo and the 'quirks' that go with it :-(

Nothing you can do about it - we've been asking for the software that controls the CD player to be fixed for what seems like aeons and despite several OS 'upgrades' to the firmware in the Connect Nav+, it's still exactly the same.

Apparently, it *is* possible says Blaupunkt, but the software would require 'extensive testing' and this ain't on Fiat's priority list.

But then again, little is [:(!]

Thanks Neil

Had a feeling this was the case but thought I'd better ask first.

It's not that it's a real annoyance but it would be nice to have it fixed at some point in the future.

BTW I've got the 9.8 version of the Connect Software and haven't experienced any screeches or anything yet, from what I remember most people were scrabbling around for 9.7 last month so start another round of kill the dealer for the upgrade.

Hi Kelvin

Us non-Abarth owners also have a problem with the CD Autochanger - ours doesnt stop playing for about a minute after the ignition is turned off, hence it doesnt remember where the CD last was.

Fiat's, you gotta love 'em!

This is an electrical issue, not a software one.
I was told that the CD Changer needs to be powered from another source. The default one, resets it every time we start the engine, because the system cuts the power to have it all available to the starter.

The dealer is incorrect - the details could be stored in non volatile memory like all the playlists and phone numbers etc etc.

Well the dealer is correct, becuase that is how my CD player was fixed. It now no longer turns off when you turn the ignition off, but at least it doesn't get messed up. (if you don't turn it off, it stays on forever ;) )

NVRAM is no use if it gets interrupted while writing a memory block, which is what seemed to be happening (IMHO).

Todays fault: Recurring ASR / ESP Failure warnings.

Sorry - misread the post - I missed the point that it was the multichanger that was being referred to. The SatNav+ has a built in CD and that always starts at Track 1 (effectively does a clean boot every time!). That most definitely could be resolved in software.

got the new car now have you dan?

the cdc is a lump of (*!£^$*&!%£

throw it away and stick a tidy mp3 player in its place. that way youve got a tidy system AND kept the connect+ in all its glory :)

ohh, and good on ya for recycling (y)

congrats to you (y)

there are'nt any alternatives to the cdc, its only the blaupunkt adc09 fiat derivative that will work, but you'll have a better chance driving to mars than to get that thing working well.

tap into the iso connectors at the back of the connect, and stick a tidy cd player in the cdc's place. thats what im trying to do anyways. all-be-it in a slightly different configuration (read my carputer thread)

It's becuase the programming of the Connect Nav unit forces the CD to go to Track 1 00:00 when you tell it to play, either by the button or by voice.
