LOL.. the benefits of carbon fibre... someone prangs it, it doesn't do much damage :D

Hate to burst your bubble...but it depends on the weave ;)

too much in one direction, and too much load in another = dust

Yep, Rowan Atkinson caused thousands of pounds worth of damage to his McLaren F1 when he hit a Metro of all things at about 25mph!! The carbonfibre moncoque/chassis and suspension all needed going over IIRC.
 
sorry i made an assumption. the carbon fibre they use to make bonnets on road race cars is double weave. afterall why thehell would you make a road car out of something that turns to dust (a la F1)
surely they'd just use that all over...

I wonder how much of that is really carbon fibre. Very little i'd bet.
