car auctions.....

right i have no idea on car auctions just want some info

what sort of price do they sell for? just give me some examples, of fiats of course

and are there many places in essex?

if you were intrested in a car, how much can you look at it? like can you look round it and check its all running etc?

what cover do you have? all i know is when my mum went to one she came back with a stolen ford escort (vin numbers didnt match, and it was a different colour too and the log book had tip ex on it lol)

Oooh it's like a sort of real ebay isn't it, I can see why you are interested You can get punto's for about £500 (my mate did) however they may be real dog's, you only get to see them and hear them running, it's a total lottery. You either get a total bargain, or you p*ss your money away on a dog of a car.

first of all, the big auction houses[BCA AND MANHEIM] have cleaned there act up in recent yrs. all cars are HPI passed. any problem here , they will refund you. on the day of auction, you can visably look around the car before the auction starts etc. once on the way, the car can be checked under the bonnet and engine run stationary when that line of cars are due in the ring.
once bought, you have one hours grace to reject the car if a major fault occurs.
my tip at auction is not to buy from the general sale. these cars are there usually to get rid of because of problems.
i would concentrate on main dealer p/x cars. some have no reserve and can be huge bargains. get to know your retail private prices, then go to a main auction, and stick to a ceiling price. do not get sucked in like so many. there are many bargains. if you are patient, you will do all right.

Buying cheap cars from an auction is very risky IMO, especially if its being sold on behalf of a private individual

your nearest is basildon (dunno what that one like these days) and chelmsford, never buy the first time you go, go a few times to get the feel for the place, chelmsford have 3 sales a week monday night, wednesday morning and saturday morning, wednesday sales usaly best less private buyers bumping up prices
