lol yes shotts auction bout 2 years ago, full tax full mot , 56k miles immaculate, for ...... wait for it........ £300. but £400 inc auction fees. hehe! xxx

the joys of buying at trade prices :)

Buying at auction can be pretty risky though.........some right sheds do pass through fairly regularly............

Not a fiat, but I brought a cavalier 2.0 SRI M-reg 80,000 full service history, blah blah blah

£320 notes, that was last year. Mate brought it from me for cost.

1 year later, we warned him to get cambelt done!

You can guess the rest!

i like the thrill of the auction , forget ebay!!
its the smell of the engines the noise of the crowd
n the going once, going twice.............

ah but thats why you take sum1 whos knows what to look for!!:p xxx

The problem I see is that a lot of the cheaper cars are sold without trial and you can't really make a full appraisal of potential problems. Still a bit of risk, even if you do know what you're doing. You can't test drive, for example. At least with horses, you can get in the pen, have a look and trot them up before they go in the ring (y)

It's an even bigger thrill when you're the one doing the bidding!

Nowadays though you can go to auctions days before it starts, view the vehicles on say a pre inspection and some auction houses are willing to pull vehicles from auction if you are seriously interesting then you get to view all documents etc and have a test drive, i know this is a policy at manheim auction houses and BCA auction houses

no, not auction. Not a bad price on my car tbh though. 74k sporting bought october 2003 for £600 - came with stealth shelf, k&n, history and tweety pie mudflaps (y)

my mum did, for an old escort, for £300, in about 1998? after a few months she compared the car with the logbook, she realised the vin numbers didnt match! the car was a different colour! and a different engine size! and a different amount of doors! only thing that was correct was the number plates, she quickly gave it to a scrap yard :
