General Cannot open tailgate Seicento - Help!

Hi Folks,

I cannot open the tailgate on my mothers seicento. The key will not turn in the lock and the in car lever won't open the tailgate either. I've removed the plastic cover from the inside of the lock and can see slight movement when either operating the interior lever or trying to turn the key in the lock. Any ideas most gratefully appreciated!

Put the key in. slightly turn the key without force and try pulling to make sure the lock is properly out.

You can pop it from inside if you've got the cover off, take it out and lubricate.
