Technical camshaft sensor?

if a camshaft sensor is faulty on a 899 cc , cinq, 1994, will it cause the engine management light to come on and cause the car to rev up to only 4,500rpm?

It could do, but the best bet is to get the fault codes read.
I assume you mean crankshaft sensor though, sorry to split hairs but there's no cam sensor on Cinqs.

yes, sorry, crankshaft sensor, had codes read the other day and it was the lambda sensor, now its on again, 2 days after she was fixed!!!

its driving me mad!

it just will not go well enough!!!!!
