Technical Bulb failure....stop light message

Hi

Today and yesterday i got a 'Bulb failure....stop light' message and an arrow pointing to the left (passenger side). It beeps at me and goes out after a few seconds. I presume this means brake light? However all brake lights are working fine. What could be the problem? I've only just sorted my complicated power loss issue, its one problem after another!

Sounds like it's an intermittent warning so it could be that the contacts on the bulb holder are in need of cleaning up. remove the tail light and rake the bulb holder out and have a look, it's pretty straightforward to remove so worht just checking, you might just have a slightly loose connection or something?

Or a blown bulb... yes I know its working but often the dual fillament bulb re makes contact and the altering of resistance throws the light on

Similar problem here. Beeps and tells me the left rear indicator bulb blown when the brake pedal used. Indicator OK.
Have changed bulbs, cleaned contacts and cleaned the earth block on the body near the cluster.

Well I thought I would try and clean the contacts more aggressively. I used some paint rubbing paste on a cotton bud and rubbed the pins on the cluster. Cleaned it with some contact cleaner on another bud. I also noted the pins on the cluster had lost their tension slightly on the earth pin so I used the multimeter probe to move them closer together. Have taken for a run and it didn't squeal at me, so fingers crossed...

I remember from a similar thread that the problem was a poor earth connection, sorted by re-routing the wire straight to the body of the car near the cluster. You probably won't have to go as far as that, just make sure the earth is clean and tight.

Multiple electrical problems can be at the battery. The first thing I did when I had a problem was to check that. The earth clamp would not tighten up fully so I fitted a new one. That cured most problems.

Poor old bulbs always get the blame! Take a look at the relay if I were you. Swap it for another in the relay box of equal size and test.

Fixed It was the bulb at fault, the cluster was removed and bulbs checked. The bulb filament was black, a nice cheap easy solution for a change
