New to the forums.

I have a 1984 Spider, (121K miles) and have had her for about 1yr and love the car. Unfortunately today, the hood release cable broke. It snapped somewhere about half way between the handle and the latch. Can anyone suggest a way to open the hood so I cab replace the cable ??

Thanks in Advance,
Tony Z

Tony, please tell me that you did not know about (or forgot about) the emergency hood release cable, tucked inside under your dash.

look for a little gray cable covered in plastic, with a loop on the end about 1 inch in diameter, on the left hand side just inside the firewall near the fuse panel.

give that emergency hood release cable a firm pull.

then after you get your hood open, consider this:

on the second to last picture in this article, you can see the other end of the emergency cable attached to the hood latch.

Mike,

Thanks for the info, no I didn't know about it. Funny part of the story is that, the guy who took care of my car is also Tony, he found my post and your reply ..... about 2 hours after I looked (no reply posted yet) and I had the car towed to his shop.
